چکیده

This study was carried out to assess the morphological and genetic variability of seven accessions Abelmoschus L. species using morphometric analysis ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase large chain (RBCL) molecular markers. Using a completely randomized block design, seeds okra were planted with three replicates each. During developmental stage, features observed recorded according standard descriptor for crop. Morphologically, all exhibited degree similarities, albeit, at maturity, leaf, plant height, leaf colour, shape became distinct. A cluster phenotypic characterization 3.74 level coefficient similarity two distinct clusters, which predicted be A. esculentus caillei. The percentage variance principal components 55.12% 22.69% corresponding Eigenvalues 4.11 1.69, respectively. Results RBCL revealed 0.80 similarity. Two distinguishable clusters observed. Both genotyping results suggest that variations exist among within accessions. In conclusion, there is need frequently evaluate resources held in gene banks as they may not reflect whole range diversity inherent species.

Assessment of genetic relatedness among okra genotypes [abelmoschus esculentus (l.) Moench] using rapd markers

DNA based RAPD (Randomly Amplification of Polymorphic DNA) markers have been used extensively to study genetic relationships in number of crop plants. In this study, 44 okra genotypes collected from different parts of India, were selected to assess genetic distinctiveness and relatedness. Total genomic DNA was extracted and subjected to RAPD analysis using 14 arbitrary 10 mer primers. The molec...

Proximate, mineral, and antinutrient compositions of indigenous Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus) pod accessions: implications for mineral bioavailability

The promotion and consumption of indigenous vegetables could help to mitigate food insecurity and alleviate malnutrition in developing countries. Nutrient and antinutrient compositions of eight accessions of Okra Pods were investigated. Molar ratios and mineral bioavailability of Okra pod accessions were also calculated and compared to the critical values to predict the implications for mineral...
